Every practice hour, logged together.

Wheeltime is a free driving log for teens with a learner permit. Time each supervised drive, watch the day and night hours add up against your state's goal, and share one log with everyone who rides along.

Tap start, tap endA big timer the supervising adult runs. It keeps going if the phone locks, and a drive you forgot to time can be added afterwards.
Night hours, countedWheeltime works out how much of each drive was after sunset in your state, so the night requirement adds up on its own.
Your state's goalThe hours every US state asks for are built in, including night and bad-weather hours. Or set your own goal.
One log for the familyMom, Dad, grandparents and the teen join with a six-letter code. Every drive anyone logs counts toward the same hours.

Ready for the DMVExport the whole log as a PDF with totals and a signature line. Free, supported by ads; no account or email.

How it works

  1. Pick your state: Wheeltime fills in the hours it asks for.
  2. Start the timer when your teen pulls out; end it when you park. Tag the conditions if you like.
  3. Share the family code so every supervising driver logs into the same place.

Questions

Is Wheeltime really free?

Yes, with every feature, for the whole family. The app shows ads, which is how it pays for itself.

Will the DMV accept the log?

Wheeltime's PDF lists every drive with date, times, minutes, night minutes, conditions and supervisor, with the totals and a signature line. Many states have their own certification form: copy the totals onto it and keep the log with it.

How is night driving worked out?

From sunset and sunrise in your state for the date of the drive. If your state uses a different definition, you can change the night minutes on any drive.

Should the teen use the app while driving?

No. The supervising adult runs the timer from the passenger seat. The driver keeps their hands on the wheel and eyes on the road.
