Short, regular drives build skill faster than a few long ones. A 30-minute drive after school twice a week and a longer weekend trip adds up to about two hours a week.
Keeping the log
Most states ask a parent or guardian to certify the hours, and many have their own form. Keep a record of each drive as it happens: the date, start and end time, how long it lasted, how much was at night, the conditions and who supervised. A log filled in weeks later from memory is rarely accurate.
